Username and display name
Username
Your username is your unique identifier across Vacua (e.g. @yourname). To change it:
- Go to User Settings → Account.
- Click the Edit button next to your username.
- Enter your new username and confirm with your password.
Usernames are lowercase, can contain letters, numbers, underscores, and dots. Each username is globally unique.
Display name
Your display name is what others see in chat. It can be anything (spaces allowed) and doesn't need to be unique.
- Go to User Settings → Profile → Display Name.
- Enter your preferred name.
- Click Save Changes.
You can also set a per-server nickname — this overrides your display name in a specific server without changing your global name.
